Cleophas Ng'etich and Valery Jemeli shine at the University of Eldoret Cross Country

Cleophas Ng'etich in action!

Cleophas Ng’etich ran sensationally to win the men’s senior race at the University of Eldoret annual cross country event yesterday.
Ng’etich led from gun to tape and as he continued opening up a big gap, many thought that he was just but a pace setter who would soon drop out of the race, but that never happened.
This emerging star  went ahead to win the race in a very big margin and will surely be one athlete to watch out for in the next upcoming events leading up to the African Cross Country Championships early next year.
The women’s senior race was won by Valery Jemeli, who also led from an early stage in the race and easily controlled it by glancing back at times and making sure that she remained at a safe distance ahead of the rest of the competitors till she crossed the finish line.

With next year not being a world cross country championships year, there was a relatively lower turnout of athletes at this event. Other athletes had also gone out to run a half marathon in Taita Taveta, the Madoka Half Marathon.
