Summary of Kenya’s performance at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

Kenya's gold medalists from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

Kenya finished 14th overall on the medal table and 5th on the athletics table at the just concluded Gold Coast Games with 4 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals. All the medals except one bronze medal came from Athletics.
Compared with the last two editions of the Games where Kenya had placed 1st on the athletics medal table, this was a dismal performance. But, still this should not take any credit away from the amazing performances that the medalists exhibited there as they flew the Kenyan flag high. Special performances came from Wycliffe Kinyamal, winning
the first gold medal for Kenya at the championships; Conseslus leading Kenyans to a clean sweep of the podium in the men’s 3000m steeplechase race, Hellen Obiri winning gold in the women’s 5000m and Elijah Manangoi bringing home the last gold medal for Kenya at the Games in the men’s 1500m final.
Below are the Kenyan medalists from the 21st Games in Gold Coast:
Gold medalists: Wycliffe Kinyamal, Conseslus Kipruto, Hellen Obiri and Elijah Manangoi
Silver medalists: Beatrice Chepkoech, Celiphine Chespol, Margaret Chelimo, Timothy Cheruiyot, Margaret Nyairera, Stacy Ndiwa and Abraham Kibiwott
Bronze medalists: Rodgers Kwemoi, Samuel Gathimba, Amos Kirui, Edward Zakayo, Purity Kirui and Christine Ongare (only medal outside Athletics)
